    Hi Heitor,

As far as I am concerned, OCDM and OFDM have not yet been standardized by ITU-T (although there are being considered to be used). In almost all standards including BPON, EPON, etc TDM has been used except for the last standard done in 2015, i.e. NG-PON2 which uses TDM for downstream and WDM for upstream.

Good night you could provide me the ITU-T standards for TDM, WDM, OCDM and OFDM, please.

How to set different bit rates for different transmitters in WDM OFDM examples? Thank you!

    Hi San,

I have actually found two OptiSystem sample files that may help you implementing the topology you want to implement. One is “WDM Ring WISE NRZ DM” in Metro Systems in Metro and Access Systems, and a file with the same name in CUDA examples in “OptiSystem performance” folder in OptiSystem samples. Please see if these are of any help.

    Hi San,

I believe it would be worth taking a look at some OptiSystem examples in which a network with ring topology has been implemented. You can refer to the example named “WDM Ring WISE NRZ DM” in Metro Systems in Metro and Access Systems in OptiSystem sample files (I am using OptiSystem 13.0.3).

You’re welcome. I have asked about this component in the following topic and yet, no answer has been given:

    Power Reduction in Optical Combiner

I have checked some data sheets and found the combiners loss different from the combiner component. Meanwhile, I prefer to use WDM MUX IDEAL component to add the signals and consider the combiner loss by setting a value for the insertion loss.

I am designing a TWDM -PON Architecture for Next Generation PON2 by integrating four 10 Gb/s wavelengths to achieve a minimum aggregate capacity of 40Gb/s.I am not getting any signal for the US.Making use of a bidirectional optical fiber.
What could be the reason ?Does a bidirectional fiber require any particular specifications for both Downstream/Upstream transmission.

    Hi Brian,

As far as I know, the use of WDM (or power splitting component in TDM systems) can either be centralized or distributed, meaning it can only be used in one spot (which can be OLT) or it can be used in ONUs as well. So I think it depends on the network topology and the papers you are referring to probably don’t share the same network topology.

If you haven’t installed OptiSystem samples, you should install them first. After the installation, you just need to open the samples folder (by default in the documents folder) and find the “4×4 COADM” sample that is being discussed in the link I provided in my former comment in “WDM Systems” folder.

    Hello Everyone

Can anybody tell me the noise values (noise dynamic in dB) which i should for simulations using optisystem. the default value which optisystem provides for every component is 3 dB. I need to know the most ‘near to practical’ values for CW laser, WDM Mux and WDM demux.

I shall be grateful for any help provided.

You’re welcome. Another strange thing about the implementation in the paper is the fact that one PRBS generator is used. So I don’t think using an access method such as WDM is of any use, since only one user is available here and it is a kind of point-to-point communication. I thought this was worth mentioning because it is also something you should consider beside laser frequency.

Thank you for the attachment. There is no change in the signal in the output of the multiplexer when compared with laser spectrum, except for the fact that its power has increased due to fork being used (which multiplies the power as we discussed). I don’t really understand why the author has even used WDM for this purpose. BTW, The impact factor of the journal is around 0.6, so I wouldn’t trust the results so much.

You’re welcome. As I mentioned in my first reply, CW laser array consistes of several lasers each with a different wavelength from others and can be used in WDM systems. I am not quite sure about what has been done in the paper to produce multiple wavelengths (if actually they have been produced), so can you please upload your implementation of the paper so as to examine it?

    Thanks, for your response.

i’ve tried to figure out about OCDMA from several journals on IEEE and Tutorial of Optisystem.
But, some authors didn’t share about theirs OCDMA system and i havent understand relation between NG-PON2, TWDM and OCDMA.

can you give me some e-book, so i can learn better.

and, i’m sorry about my english. Not good in language.

    Huge thanks 😀

    okk. Thanks Alistu
but i have one more doubt, the power splitter would split the laser power into multiple ports but the wavelength of light coming out from each port of the splitter would be same because we are using one laser as the source. so how will wavelength division multiplexing happen beacause we need different wavelengths for WDM.
i also want to know if there is a multiwavelength laser available in optisystem???

    thankyou
