    Topic: Fiber Ring / SLM

    in forum SYSTEM

    Hello!

I’m trying to simulate a single longitudinal mode operation using compound ring cavity laser based on cascaded fiber rings (compler + fiber) but the spectrum is not the expected. Firstly, I tried to build just a simple loop with amplifier + fiber + ring controller but it doesn’t work.
Do you know if it’s possible to simulate these behaviors in Optisystem? If positive, there’s any example?
    Thanks for your attention!

    Hello,
the loop control sets the number of times the signal circulates inside the loop. for example if you set it to 3, that means the optical signal go through the components connected between the loop terminal three times then exists.

What is the meaning of ” loop control=0″?

    Dear Ahmad,

Thanks for looking into it. Actually I am working on a bias controller for Mach Zehnder Modulator. The question I asked is a simpler version of the problem I am looking at. MATLAB component has to take output from the adder and verify whether its less than 3 or not. Then provide the required amount of voltage to the ‘adder input’ as a controller loop. I am attaching the block diagram of how the loop has to be.
The problem I am facing is how to run the circuitry in loop. How can we adjust the circuit to take at least 2 loops.

    Thank you,
    Nikhila

    Dear Nikhila,
you need to make the control loop inside the Matlab component by modifying the code to allow checking the input voltage and compare it to 3 or you could make the check within a range of 3 (between 2.99 and 3.01 for example), if it is less than three (or the range) you add (some value; could be a fraction of 1) and if it is larger than 3 you subtract (some value; again could be fraction of 1 like 0.1). once you match the value of the loop inside the Matlab component to 3 or the range, you stop and use the value to be added to the input of the adder as shown in the attached figure. please contact me at ahmad.atieh@optiwave.com if you’d like to discuss further.

    Hi,

I would like to build a control loop. I want an output of 3V at the electrical adder. I am giving an input of 1V. MATLAB components acts as a comparator. It compares the adder output to 3. If it is less than 3, it keeps on adding 1V at the other input(MATLAB component output) of adder. If the adder output is 3, the other input will be maintained at same voltage. It basically has to act as a controller loop. Please let me know how to achieve this. I am attaching the .osd file and MATLAB component in a zipped folder.

    Thank you,
    Nikhila

    Hi.
I am studying and simulating dd-optical ofdm. and i am remaking and trying to simulate the builtin dd ofdm circuit . In this circuit loop control is used for increasing the fiber length, and i just dont want to use it so i am just directly connecting the 50km OF to the photodetector, but by doing that the ber becomes 1 and constellation diagram also gets different location point or phase is changed. Can anyone please tell me why is this happening.?
    Thank you.

    Abou Bakar,
I think the visualizer displays the last round data.
I mean if you put the round 1, then the output results will be 0-100 km
if you put round 2, then the output will be from 100-200km and so on.
try to verify that by recording different data of different round in loop control.
let us know, if you have any other concerns
    thanks
    Mohamed

Hi Everyone, I have a question that i have set fiber length 100 km and also use loop control component and loop runs 43 times so its means (100*43) 4,300 km distance but when i see the 3-D graph on optisystem the distance axis shows still 100 km (0km 20km 40km 60km 80km 100km thats it.) instead of 4,300 km so why distance axis not shows 4,300 km distance on distance axis? please reply.

    Hi

How do I calculate the Max Q factor on paper for a given system in order to verify if my simulated Max Q factor shown on my eye diagram in optisystem is correct and corresponds with my calculated Q?

Here are the parameters for the given system:
    32 x 5Gb/s DWDM system
Fiber span includes a 100km (NZDSF), 2.7km (DCF), EDFA (Gain = 21 dB & Noise Figure = 6dB), 6 connectors in total (0.75 dB insertion loss each)
    dispersion of NZDSF: 4 ps/nm.km
    dispersion of DCF: -147 ps/nm.km
    LOOP CONTROL = 1
    Transmission Type:DML
    TX Power:5dBm
    Central Wavelength: 1550nm
    Modulation Type:NRZ
    Loss of Multiplexer:5dB
    Loss of Demultiplexer: 5dB
    Frequency Spacing:100GHz
    Receiver Sensitivity: -18 dBm
    Thermal noise: 1e-022
    Insertion Loss of PIN: 3dB
    Cut off Frequency = 0.75 X bit rate = 0.75 x 5 Gb/s = 3.75 GHz

    Hi Muhasin,
I am not sure if I understood your question correctly,
loop control the DCF or use the actual length should give the same results!!

I have made some simulation of DWDM System using 3 schemes of DCF in 40 gbps bitrate with 16 channel, and SMF length 200 Km & DCF 40 Km. The result show that Pre Compensation gave the best result for BER analyzer, but actually symmetrical should be the best schemes. Question is, do i need loop control for the sistem? or maybe there is something wrong in the system?
