    Hello Shafeen.

No we are not able to sweep the bit rate although we can sweep every other parameter. What is your actual problem with sweep?
Do you want to evaluate your system for more than one data rate?

    Hello All. Greetings.

Thanks Rajguru for elaborating it. i think he will be able to find the samples easily now.

    Hello Domail Singh. Greetings.

Why do you need to calculate the receiver sensitivity when you can set it in the global parameters itself. What for you need to calculate it?

    Hello Shafeen Al yasin. Greetings.

I would suggest you to go through Lesson 5 of the tutorial which mentions the function of sweep. You can go through it to get some idea

Lesson 5: Bidirectional Simulation — Working with Multiple Iterations

I hope this would help you to some extent.

    Hi kanwarpreet. Greetings.

Well as far as your query is concerned, it has been already asked on this forum. I would suggest you to create another user on your PC and install version 14 on that new user only.
About compatibility of older version with newer versions, sometimes it works and some times it may not. You can check it after installing it on your PC. I hope you find it useful.

    Hello Nagesh. Greetings.
As far as i know i have used mach-zehnder modulator as a modulator. About mach-zenhnder inferometer i dont any concrete idea. I would suggest you to go through the links i am posting. These will surely be of some help.

    Hello Ankita. Greetings.

You easily can simulate without amplifier fro 50km. Just take care of other important parameters like input laser power, bit rate and all. What are you exactly designing?

    Hello Pooja. Greetings.
As far as your query is concerned about the buffer selector you can refer to the link

Lesson 5: Bidirectional Simulation — Working with Multiple Iterations

It explains the usage of buffer selectors in system designs. It is usually used in bidirectional systems and most importantly for delays. Try going through the link it will be surely of some help. Hopefully it will help.

    Hello Pooja. Greetings.
As far as your query is concerned i feel it is a good question you have raised but i would like to tell you that nay variation in the results wont necessarily mean that it is noise. It can be because of some variation or non-linearities in the channel due to which results will vary. I hope this will be helpful but i must agree with you. An interesting query you have put forward.

Hello Ankita. Greetings from my side.

Well why do you have to calculate the length and what for ? Can you please tell us because its you who decides the length of the fiber you are going to use for your system and it definitely application specific. I hope it gives you some idea.
And as far as the difference is concerned it is the gain and power mode. You can think EDFA as a black box which you may use in your design.

    Hello Damian. greetings.
Will the system work good for two different data rates? I have to keep a different data rate for downstream and a different data rate for upstream.
One more question i have to ask that is it necessary to write the new bit rate parameter as function of “bit rate/x” in the bit sequence generator?
Looking forward to hear from you.

Hello Jyoti Raina. Greetings from my side.

Here i would like to say that the maximum quality factor is application specific. There is one general rule that more the quality factor more better will be the performance. I presume that there is not any limit on the quality factor but yeah as you mentioned the minimum bit error rate is limited no system is good if its bit error rate is less than 10^-9. However no such limit on quality factor. I hope this would help you.
