SAHIL SINGH
ParticipantHi Pooja,
Buffer selector finds its use in systems which use multiple system iterations. Its significance is to filter out a particular iteration and then only the signal of that particular iteration is forwarded to the detector.Make sure if you use a buffer selector in your design,,you change the signal index in the analyser window to the same iteration value as you set for your buffer selector.Or else you will find no output values for BER and Quality factor at all other signal index values.I will also suggest you to go through the following links.. It will surely be of great help..

Atul Sharma
ParticipantHello Pooja. Greetings.
As far as your query is concerned about the buffer selector you can refer to the linkLesson 5: Bidirectional Simulation — Working with Multiple Iterations
It explains the usage of buffer selectors in system designs. It is usually used in bidirectional systems and most importantly for delays. Try going through the link it will be surely of some help. Hopefully it will help. With regards

ParticipantHello Atul.
The link was very helpful. Thank you so much for the link. It has mentioned its usage if we need to use bidirectional components in our design but still it was very helpful. Thank you 🙂Regards

Remo De Suza
ParticipantHi All.
I agree with Atul sharma about the use of buffer selector in bidirectional systems. If you are designing a PON network you might have to use the buffer selector for multiple iterations. I will suggest you to go through the link provided by Atul. It will be of some help for sure. Thanks and regards

Rajguru M. Mohan
ParticipantHi pooja rawat,
By using Buffer Selector, we could able to select the signal data associated with a specified iteration in a series of iterations.
We set parameter Selection as its default value to 0 (the indexing for iterations starts at 0). If We set the parameter Selection as its value to Iterations – 1 (by using Script mode) the component will forward the signal data associated with the final iteration of the series. For example if Iterations = 5 (within Layout Parameters/Signals), the Buffer Selector will forward the signal data associated with the 5th iteration of the CW laser. For more information you could refer to pdf file of component library of Optisystem software.
Thanks

ParticipantHi All,
It is rightly said by Rajguru that buffer selector is used to select a data line. This must help Pooja in getting an idea about the different uses.
Thanks
