    Topic: Bitrate Parameters

    Hallo
Now, I am doing my final project using optisystem
    I make a TWDM-PON simualtion with 40/10 Gbps.
in each DS PRBS Genrator, I have setted to 10 Gbps and for each US PRBS Generator to 2.5 gbps
My question is about the bit rate parameter in Layout Windows.
Should I set it to be 10 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps?
because I already test it, and I get a different result for it
    Hope to get you reply

    Hy all
I already make the TWDM PON simulation for my final project
pardon me, but can you help me to check if this network is wrong or not
    hope to receive your comment

hi sam i have another query regarding BER… if suppose my BER analyzer is showing BER well below 10^-9 but using OSNR values measured by dual port WDM analyzer i get very gppd BER of the order of 10^-30 ..using the empirical formula. what BER values are right… is it okay if i give my results according to WDM analyzer calculated BER for a WDM system.

Hi Sam thank u for answering my query ..it is very imp to me….my last part of research. so i will not share the design but yes i will tell u the relevant information
1i have no EDFA used i am using some other paarmetric amplifier
    2. i am using transmission distance of 50 km SMF fiber span only
3.yes my channel spacing is narrow this is the difference from papers u have sent..
    4. for 16 channel system total WDM txr power is 0 dbm
    5. yes its c band
    6.yes it is using DCF
    7. Mux used is ideal so no settings but demux BW is 12 GHz for 25 GHz channel spacing
pls guide me further…my regards to u bye

    Hi shymaa
There is some good questions you have asked. First of all one other forum member has query related to similar topic of DWDM at 25G Hz spacing and 40G data rate. Kindly also check her discussion time to time as you will most probably face similar issues while implementation.
Kindly attach the simulation file if you made roughly and answer of these question as follows

    Kindly check the optisystem samples
    Samples>transmitter> duobinary return to zero

This will show the single channel DRZ format and you can also check the modulator settings of DRZ. As ican see, two modulators are having different modulation voltages however bias voltages are fixed.
Kindly double click on modulator and go to help for more information about component.

You can consider rise time 0 to 1. but for your case 0.01 is fine and you will get acceptable results.

EDFA amplifier noise and gain depends upon the pump power wavelength and length of fiber. In general we consider noise 4dB of amplifier EDFA

Q-factor that you can see on BER is in linear domain (dimensionless) However you can convert values manually by by applying log function to it.

Yes you can use the script for conversion, but this will be done by help of optiwave technical assistance.

Hope you get some answers and if you can attach file then it would be better

    Regards

Hello, i have designed a 16 channel WDM system with narrow channel spacing of 25 Ghz using IM/DD formats . when i run the system the eye diagram , Q factor received at the receiver are well above 6 and clear for different input powers but if same system is run at 40 Gbps Q factor falls to orderof 1-2 and no clear eye opening is obtained. i have tried changing order of filter, noise values but unable to improve in optisystem. pls tell me what changes at receiver have to be made incase data rate is increased including that of WDM Demultiplexer, and Optical receiver

    Dear all,

I am new to optisystem and till now I have worked on it for 504 hours, so please answer to my question because I am in a big puzzle and have a hard time.
I am trying to perform exactly the same system in the attach file and I am not fully understand all the basics.
    1. what is the biasing voltage that I should apply to the modulators? does the first modulator have the same biasing voltage settings of the second modulator ??

    2. what are the settings of the rise time and the fall time of the NRZ generator in my case?

    3. What is the required bandwidth of the multiplexer and demultiplexer and should they be same or not for the same output number of the input channels?

    4. what is the noise figure frequency of the EDFA and how much the bandwidth ??

    5. Is the Q factor that i got from the BER analyzer in dB unit or unit less? if it is a unit less could I write a script somewhere to draw it in dB?

for now these are the most important question and if you require my to attach the optisystem file I will do.

    kind regards,
    Shaymaa

these setting affect the Q factor

    Hi ebrahim, welcome to optiwave.

As your query regarding optisystem software, i suggest you to read the similar topics on internet. There are many research article in the context of this topic. Study or watch the examples tutorials given by optiwave and try to make simulation with practicle values. If you will face any issue, reply back and i will help you for further work.
Optisystem published a 40 Gbps DWDM FSO system in publication section. I will post the link as well as some more important paper on this topic.

Topic: 4 channel CWDM and BER

    in forum SYSTEM

Attached is a simple 4 channel CWDM system using the optical transmitter component and the 3R regenerator. The simulation works as expected with the BER of each channel changing with changing variables such as length, dispersion, wavelength etc.

My question is, why does the BER not change if I run the simulation a number of times in a row. (with no changes in the component parameters)
I have run a similar simulation using the CW laser and MZ modulator etc and each time I run the simulation I get different results for the BER, as I had expected due to the random nature of noise.

    Does anybody have any ideas?
