Webinar: Probabilistic Amplitude Shaping for QAM and PAM Modulated Signals

8 June 2022, 10:00 – 11:00 – Eastern Daylight Time

Various schemes have been used in the field to address the ever-increasing demands of exploding information transmission requirements to support different services including social networking, video conferencing, multimedia, etc. Probabilistic amplitude shaping (PAS), a form of probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS), is a modern technique that offers flexible wavelength capacities for a given data format while increasing the noise tolerance of such systems. PAS techniques have been added recently to OptiSystem version 19.0 and will be demonstrated for QAM and PAM modulation schemes for single and dual polarization.
Polarization compensation exploiting signal manipulation in the Stokes space is applied for the dual-polarization multiplexed signals to improve the link reach and system performance.
Local and global optimization algorithms for the adaptive equalization process are implemented in the DSP to allow using optimal equalization parameters. Nonstandard PAM modulation formats such as PAM3, PAM5, and PAM6 will also be discussed.
