Optical Phase Locked Loop for Analog Homodyne Detection

For coherent demodulation it is essential that the frequency and the phase of the local oscillator closely matches the carrier signal. This application note shows how an electro-optic phase locked loop can be used to actively correct the phase and the frequency differences between two signals and demodulate a BPSK signal.
