      Hello All;

      Kindly, what is the effect of sequence length on the BER? are there any rules should be followed in order to change the default values of sequence length and sample per bits.?

      thank you in advance
      regards

      Hi,

      By increasing sequence length, you may be able to get more accurate BER especially if you are using BER test set, which calculates BER on an empirical basis. You can easily change the “samples per bit” and “sequence length” parameters in the layout parameters. Samples per bit should be set according to Nyquist rate, and increasing these parameters would increase the simulation time.

      Sequence length is an important factor for determining the global parameters,Time window,number of samples,sample rate,higher the bit rate higher is time window,i.e BER analyzer will have a larger time window ,also optical to electrical conversion the higher wavelengths optical signals can be well adjusted and thus reduced BER.

      Sorry plz study higher the bit rate as higher the sequence length.

        Hi Lalit,

        Thank you for the information. Can you please elaborate on the relation between bit rate and sequence length a little more if possible? I believe the sequence length affects the time window and number of samples, but can you please explain how it affects sample rate and bit rate as you have mentioned (based on your experience) in any direct or indirect way? Thank you.

        Regards
