When the titanium diffused waveguides of the designed device overlap (Figure 1), the refractive index at the overlapping position will be superimposed (Figure 2 and 3). How can the refractive index of the superimposed position not be superimposed, which is the refractive index of one of the waveguides? The picture is stored in the attachment.

This is an issue with the titanium diffused waveguides. The way I have worked around this is to export the design as a mask and us free mask editing software to remove the overlap from one of the waveguides and then import back into the design.
