Dear All
I’m planning to do the simulation of Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry for Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing. While searching for tunable laser source i couldn’t find it in the component library. Please guide me, how to implement tunable laser source in optisystem. Can someone help me with explanation?

Dear Azvad,
you can select the CW Laser, then in the component prosperities popup window, which you can access by double clicking on the component, you may change the Mode of Frequency to sweep by scrolling on the field (Normal). Then select the tuning range and step size.

Salam,
Yes you should be able to sweep the Rayleigh scattering in the Optical Fiber components in OptiSystem. I am not sure about the design you’d like to implement, so I can’t provide feedback.

Dear Azvad,
Unfortunately, we don’t have an example on OFDR in OptiSystem Example Library. However, I think it is possible to implement it in OptiSystem.
If you build the system, I’ll try to help you.
We need to justify the time we spend on supporting non-paid users of OptiSystem. Typically, we charge $500/hr for consultation to customers to design their projects.

There is no Fresnel Reflection parameter in the bidirectional fiber. Why do you need it?
