If I’m using Matlab Component to get signal from EDFA amplifier and I need to add noise to signal.
the given noise is power and I have the phase but i found that the phase is zero. Is it a special case? or the noise always real?
Hope your support.
Hi Abdallah,
This is a good question. I need to ask the R&D engineer, but I can get an answer Monday.
From my own experience and tests I ran, the noise is added as magnitude or power and so I don’t think it explicitly carries the noise information, but running a test with Noise Bins I found that adding them did indeed bring phase noise to the signal.
Regards
Hi Abdallah,
I agree with Damian that we considering the magnitude of noise field which is the power of noise for our calculations. And it’s also known that optical detector can detect only change power (it’s not fast enough to detect the electric field due to its high frequency).
I think “convert noise pins” option,is adding noise to the signal.I tested it and i found it is correct.
Thanks for your support.
