      Dear Friends,

If we take the default parameters of CW laser where line-width is 10MHZ. Can we measure it form its optical spectrum via OSA. As we know Linewidth is the width of optical spectrum at half maximum peak power (FWHM).

If not so, then how can we exactly measure it?

      Regards

Usually OSAs have 0.01nm as lower resolution (1.25GHz), so a small CW linewidth must be measured with other methods.

The best method will depend on what type of laser you are working with. Besides, the line width of your source will depend on modulation you use.

Hi Ravil, the bandwidth parameter inside OptiSystem is the CW line, so if you want to match the measured value with simulation you should not modulate your source…

Hi Alessandro, thank you for your specification.
