You can solve the modes and simulate the fiber waveguides with OptiBPM or OptiFDTD. Can you expand on what exactly you are trying to simulate?

I would simulate multicore instead of using SMF as mode launcher , to MMF. to be used in MGDM technique, ?? I need help on that
