In WDM systems, phenomena with undesired effects such as crosstalk and some other nonlinear effects also influence the signal. Therefore, it is not unusual that in some cases the signal is more corrupted than when simulation is done with only one channel being used. I might be able to help more if I see the simulation, but what I mentioned is in general.
