Hi Saurav,
If you considering entering and exiting light beam, the entering point is usually taken at the source and the exiting point is usually taken at the detector where you observing and measuring the power. As Damian said the detector area cab be used for simulation and calculation of the detected power. In this case, it will be the terminal (observation) point for your simulation.
