Optiwave Announces the Release of OptiSystem 23.1: Advancing Satellite FSO, Machine Learning, and Advanced Sensing Simulation
Latest release introduces new components, enhances existing features, and expands the example library for comprehensive optical system design.
OTTAWA, CANADA – May 2026 – Optiwave Systems Inc., the leader in optical system design automation, is proud to announce the release of OptiSystem 23.1. This latest update introduces powerful new components and features specifically designed for high-growth sectors, including Satellite and Free-Space Optics (FSO) communications, LiDAR sensing, and data-driven system analysis.
OptiSystem 23.1 addresses the increasing complexity of next-generation optical networks by providing researchers and engineers with enhanced tools for long-range link modeling and multi-level signal processing.
Key Features of OptiSystem 23.1:
- Expanded Satellite and FSO Capabilities: A new Satellite FSO Channel component has been introduced to simulate optical signal transmission for uplink, downlink, and inter-satellite links. This is supported by the new Spatial Beam Expander and Spatial Beam Collimator, which provide designers with superior control over beam spread and incidence during transmission through UAV and satellite channels.
- High-Speed Signal Analysis (PAM4/PAM8): To meet the demands of modern data centers, the BER Analyzer and Eye Diagram Analyzer now include parameters for multi-level signal analysis, enabling the accurate characterization of PAM4 and PAM8 modulated signals.
- Advanced LiDAR Processing: The LIDAR Signal Processor has been updated with a dynamic reference port for Time of Flight (ToF) schemes, facilitating precise range calculations for multiple pulses. New LiDAR system examples have also been added to the library to accelerate design cycles.
- Improved Machine Learning and Scripting Workflows: A new Python Console has been added to display execution progress for Python scripts. Additionally, the software now automatically cleans the canvas before executing VB and Python scripts to prevent duplicate layouts.
- Enhanced Visualization and UI: All visualizers have been updated with larger panes for units and parameters, a reduced number of significant digits for better clarity, and new units to simplify the viewing of large numerical data.
- Universal OTDR Component: A new Universal OTDR component allows users to investigate launched pulse conditions by providing flexible control over the modulation process.
