      Hi All,
      I am gonna deliver webinar, most probably two sessions about the nonlinear phenomena in optical fibers.
      the date is not specified yet, but most probably will be in the first week of March.
      it will cover the following
      self-phase modulation (SPM),
      Cross phase modulation (XPM),
      self steepening (SS),
      Rayleigh Scattering (RS),
      Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS),
      Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) – Raman tilt.

      I encourage you to attend and to advise your friends whose working related to this area to attend these webinar.

      can anyone tell me how can stop wavelength from passing through AWG, like i want to pass 1550nm from AWG and 1560nm is blocked by AWG

        Chauhan,
        AWG has N outputs you can ignore the output of 1560 nm and use the output of 1550 nm to the rest of your system!

      Dear

      I want to have change in Phase of RF modulated signal (as a function of CW laser power) at the output of system just by utilizing self-phase modulation in highly nonlinear fiber.

      Theoretically there is a relationship for nonlinear phase shift as a function of intensity/power of laser but How can we do this in optisystem?

      Hi aadilqau,
      As far as I know the RF signal does not experience SPM, the CW laser signal does.
      the relation between nonlinear phase shift and signal power is well known, and written in many literatures.
      Nonlinear phase shift = (signal intensity ) *n distance / (nonlinear length). [Agrawal book]

      What if RF signal is modulated with CW laser signal and then if CW laser signal experience SPM then what i think is that RF signal will also experience phase shift resultant from the SPM of CW laser signal. In other words, SPM of CW laser signal must be translated to Modulated RF signal???

      Hi aadilqau,
      to the extent of my knowledge, this does not happen.
      as CW Laser is modulated in its amplitude. so how CW laser SPM is translated to the modulating RF signal!!
      you might be right, but I did not see this point before.
      you need to read more about it to prove it is correct or not.
