LAOP 2014

The Latin America Optics & Photonics Conference (LAOP) is the major conference sponsored by the Optical Society (OSA) in Latin America.  In its third year the conference will be hosted in Mexico and co-sponsored by the Academia Mexicana de Óptica (AMO) and co-organized with the Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica (CIO).

The explicit objective is to promote Optics and Photonics regional activities in Latin American that enhance their development and impact on regional countries and communities. As such, they are partially heir to independent activities that were carried out at the national level, but as a Latin American movement arose at OSA. Therefore, it welcomes the partnership and participation of all the national and regional international societies in the region. For 2014 the conference host is the Academia Mexicana de Ciencias, which is the highest representative of Mexican national leadership.  Additional participant societies include the Academia Mexicana de Óptica, the Sociedad Mexicana de Física through its sections of Optics, Quantum Information and Atomics and Molecular Physics and the Sociedad de Instrumentación.
