ParticipantHello all;
Kindly, i would like to theoretically represent the transimpedance amplifier. Therefore, what is the proper formula used to illustrate its thermal noise and gain?

ParticipantHi Eng. Alyan, are you using such block from OptiSystem? If so, you can get the mathematical expressions from the help section of the component you are using. Regards.

ParticipantThank you Mr. Gokul Boro for the fast response.
Yes, i am using the block from OptiSystem but unfortunately there is no mathematical expression and technical background.
do you have any idea to represent that ?-

ParticipantHi Eng. Alyan,
I believe by using some simple wikipedia explanations you may be able to find the important characteristics:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transimpedance_amplifier
You can find gain and noise figure using the relations (along with some expressed in technical support section) and the parameters in component properties.

Participantthank you Alistu for the useful info. that is the basic expressions for the transimpedance amplifier. in fact, i am looking for the thermal noise expression.
thank you again

ParticipantYou’re welcome. Again the technical background explanations suffice. There are two ways of calculating noise: Either you can set “noise calculation method” as “user defined” and use “noise equivalent bandwidth” and “input noise density’ parameters to calculate noise, or set it to “calculated” and then use the relation(2) in technical background to calculate thermal noise using equivalent impedance.

ParticipantHi Eng. Alyan,
Good guiding answers to your question were given by Alistu. Since you are more interested in noises and gain calculations, I can recommend you to look at the following papers, which describe the general calculations of noise and gain parameters:

ParticipantFor further calculation details and references, I can recommend the following paper: http://www-f9.ijs.si/~margan/Articles/trans_z_amplifier.pdf. It can give you a more detailed analysis of noise and gain calculation for transimpedance amplifiers. However, it may require some background in related area…
