Hi, Everyone I have a question in Agarwal book chapter 3 in equation 3.1.4 introduced the time scale normalization. what is meant by normalization? what is the reason behind this normalization? why does normalization need in this equation? please reply me.
Hi Abu Bakar,
Normalization is a very important concept. as usually, the effects dominates by comparison.
for example in fiber, dispersion and nonlinearity takes place when dispersion length or nonlinear length would be comparable to the fiber length. that is why Agrawal uses normalization in length and in time as will.

Please clear me this normalization concept i am confused.
The only thing which i understand in normalize case is that loss term equal to zero in normalize NLSE so it means normalize case is as an ideal case for soliton to discuss their solution. please guide me.
