I am working on mode division multiplexing. I used a VCSEL component as an optical source. but I found the modulation bandwidth of this component is about 3GHz. is it true? how can I change the component parameters to increase its modulation bandwidth?
Hollo,
The bandwidth of the VCSEL laser can be controlled by adjusting the physical parameters that can be found in the component properties as shown in the image attached.
Regards,
Ahmad
Thanks Ahmad
Dear preben
Can you tell me how to generate this response graph for VCSEL you attached?
Dear Ahmad
Please tell me according to which criteria (Formula) parameter need to be changed for increasing modulation bandwidth?
Dear Adil,
There is a new example (VCSEL Laser Measured Impulse response.osd) in OptiSystem 17.0 that was released last week, which shows you how to measure the frequency response of a VCSEL. You can check the theory of the VCSEL laser component in the datasheet of the component that can be accessed through the “Help” button in the component properties popup window.
Regards,
Ahmad
