Hi,
I’m trying to simulate a modal beam propagation through tapered fiber. It works fine with a linear waveguide, but as soon as I use linearly tapered fiber I get the message saying “No waveguide at the intersected with the input plane”. I’m using OptiFDTD 32-bit version.

Modal injection into tapered fibers is a tricky thing as the mode profile is dependent on position in the taper and depending on the rate of the taper you can have really unexpected results. To this end by default you cannot selected tapered waveguides for modal injection. There are 2 solutions:
