Optiwave software can be used in different industries and applications, including Fiber Optic Communication, Sensing, Pharma/Bio, Military & Satcom, Test & Measurement, Fundamental Research, Solar Panels, Components / Devices, etc..
OptiOmega is a collection of products specialized for photonic integrated circuit simulation. It automates the design flow for
generating compact models from device level simulations. The software package includes two solvers that can be used via
Python scripting: Vector Finite Difference (VFD) Mode Solver and Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Electromagnetic Solvers.

Dears users,
I am trying to simulate a SMF with BPM software. I want compare the loss in the optic fiber with its lenght, and modifying the refractive index (i) to observe this difference. But, I am having the same result in all especific cases, independent if I have, for example 1 cm or 10 m, with 0i or 0.001i, the final intensit are the same. So, I don’t know if I am doing the correct procedure.
If you can help me, thanks a lot!
Best regards!
Could you please attach your project file?
Thanks
Dear Damian,
I am understanding my problems.
I need simulate optical fiber with extinction coefficients (imaginary factor in the cladding refractive index) and different cores. I am using 10^-6 to 0. But, I don’t know the software precision. How can I send you the project/
Thank you the attention!
Best regards,
Juliana.
