      Dear all;

How are you , I hope you fine.

I would like to ask about the simulation of s- polarized GaN laser diode and p- polarized GaN laser diode by optisystem software.

I need to specify these types of laser diodes.

I hope you reply me and help me to solve my problem
      Thanks for you

      Hi Amani,

How are you specifying these lasers? Are you looking at their optical characteristics and cavity performance? You could simulate the optical cavity with OptiFDTD.

ok , thanks for your reply.

just I need to specify that the laser diode is of GaN type
and I need to specify its polarization type either s- or p- polarized.

Does optisystem enables me to do that?
Does your proposed program ( OptiFDTD ) enables me to do that? and then export this component in optisystem since I will used it in anoher complete system.

      thanks for you

Depending on how detailed you need the model to be we already have laser models in OptiSystem to model I-V curves and spatial modes (VCSEL). You can specify whether you want the laser to generate xy polarized light.

Do you have information relating to cavity size, differential gain, cavity loss, etc.?

      NICE,

but can i specify the semiconductor used which is GaN?

what is the version of optisystem I need ?

      thanks for you

Not directly, to simulate the laser you could use the Ideal Single Mode Laser, which would need information about differential gain, transparent carrier density, active layer volume etc.

Or if you have characterized your laser through measurements you can use the Laser Measured component, the usage of which is outlined in the tutorial at:

        Using the Laser Measured Component

thanks for you reply and attention,

but I do not have these specification about my laser, only i have the type of this laser which is GaN LD and its polarization either s- or p- polarized.

I need to simulate the system in figure 1 of the attached paper.

I hope you help me to do this task.

      thanks for your help.

Ok, this should be possible. The main problem will be accurately simulating the Pr doped fiber. We have a Pr doped fiber component but it’s default setting is the transitions that emit around 1300 nm. If you have the absorption and emission data for Pr doped fiber but at your desired wavelengths it is possible to import them.

      ok, this is greatly nice.

what is your solution for simulating the GaN LDs?

and, how i can import this Pr doped fiber?

I hope you help me to the end and achieve my desired results.

      thanks much for you

      hello, How are you

In your last reply , you told me that my system can be simulated.

please. what is the version of optisystem that enable me doing this task? can I use version 7 ?

      My great thanks for you

      Hi,

It is hard for us to support all versions of OptiSystem, so it may be possible to simulate it in 7 but I think it is missing the Pr Doped fiber component.

To import your own data all you need is a text file in columns separated by tabs that relates wavelength, to absorption cross section and emission cross section.

Hello, I would like you to see my simulation,

How do you evaluate it? Thanks for you
