Optiwave software can be used in different industries and applications, including Fiber Optic Communication, Sensing, Pharma/Bio, Military & Satcom, Test & Measurement, Fundamental Research, Solar Panels, Components / Devices, etc..
OptiOmega is a collection of products specialized for photonic integrated circuit simulation. It automates the design flow for
generating compact models from device level simulations. The software package includes two solvers that can be used via
Python scripting: Vector Finite Difference (VFD) Mode Solver and Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Electromagnetic Solvers.

Greetings. I want to learn how to analyze BER diagrams. I understand the eye diagram. There are lots of articles on the internet about it. But I can’t find any source about Q factor and how to analyze it.
I am currently using OptiSystem 17.1 and the attachment includes 2 BER diagrams of my TWDM PON system designs that I have nothing to commentate. Any help appreciated.
Dear Ekrem,
You may right click on the BER Analyzer component to access the properties window. Then select Help to access the datasheet, where you will find are theoretical information on the process used to calculate the BER and Q-factor.
Regards,
Ahmad
Thank you for the response, sir. I found the datasheet. I will study it hoping to learn more about Q-factor.
