Hello Everyone,
Can anyone tell me why we select a specific sequence length of PRBS generator in Optisystem? I mean whats the basis of selecting a particular sequence length?
I’m designing a 128 Gbps DP-QPSK FSO transceiver system and using PRBS generator sequence length of 2^17-1.
I can change it to 2^19-1 or any other value. Are there some deciding parameters to go for a specific sequence length?
I will highly appreciate any of your response!
Regards
Sahil
Hello Sahil,
The PRBS generator is used to produce bits that could represent actual data transmitted in real life. The longer the bit sequence the better. However, that causes limitation on the computer memory and speed of calculations. Typically, 2^16-1 is suitable for the modulation scheme you are using. In OptiSystem, we allow total bit sequence and samples per bit (equal to number of samples) to 2^31-1. so you can adjust both parameters to be within this limit.
Regards,
Ahmad
