      Dear Optiwave Support Team,

I am working on a Power-over-Fiber (PoF) system in OptiSystem using the Photonic Power Converter (PPC) component. However, I have encountered some abnormal behavior and would like your assistance.

In my simulation, I noticed the following:

When the optical power input to the PPC is approximately 16.5 W, the electrical output power is around 24.7 W, which seems physically incorrect as it exceeds the optical input.

When the optical input is about 9.8 W, the output is a more reasonable 4.1 W.

The Oscilloscope Visualizer connected to the PPC output shows amplitude values of approximately 5 and 2 (a.u.) in the respective cases. I am unsure what this vertical axis represents—is it current, voltage, or a normalized signal?

      I would like to ask:

Is this behavior expected under certain PPC configurations?

Could there be something wrong with my PPC parameter settings (e.g., responsivity, series/parallel resistance)?

What exactly does the Oscilloscope amplitude represent when connected to a PPC output?

Even without images, I hope the description is detailed enough. If necessary, I can follow up with screenshots or my simulation file.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

      Best

      Hello Jiang,

The output power in your first case is certainly unexpected. Are you able to provide your design for review? If you do not want to post it on the open forum please send it to support@optiwave.com.

The Oscilloscope Visualizer shows whatever input is provided to it. In the case of the PPC component this would be current.

      Scott
