Dears, I have been trying to use the PMD Emulator of Optisystem with the software samples (Advanced modulation systems).
The PMD emulator allows us to analyze the effects of Differential group delay (ps), depolarization rate (deg/GHz) and polarization cromatic dispersion (ps/GHz). How can i express the depolarization rate in ps^2 ? The polarization cromatic dispersion in ps/GHz is equal to ps^2 ?
Also, when I used the PMD emulator to analyze only DGD in sweep mode from 0 to 100 ps, ignoring second order PMD (Depol and PCD) in 112 Gbit/s DP-BPSK back-to-back system, the resulting BER did not change, actually, it was almost constant. Is this behavior correct ? Or the BER value was supposed to go towards 1 as the bit errors increases for higher DGD values ?
Can anyone help me, please ?
Thanks,
Felipe
