Hi everybody.
In this semester, I’m preparing for the final project in my student life. And my professor asked me to look a not too old subject, and it has the simulation. In the semester before, i did the “RoF using OFDM” project and used Optisystem. Now, i’m looking for the optical communication projects too. But i don’t know what i can do.
I hope someone can give me some hints.
Thanks and regards!

Hi Duy,
Could you please explain a bit more about the subjects you are looking for to explore for the project? If you are only interested in OFDM, then I suggest you work on OFDM passive optical networks, considering both coherent detection and direct detection. Even a comparison between these two can yield useful research information.

Thank for your reply, alistu.
The subject is everything related to optical communication and it’s just not too old and has simulation. It’s my professor’s requirement.
I’ll ask my professor about your hint, comparing coherent and direct detection.
I’m very appreciate for your help.-

You’re welcome Duy. OFDM is a promising technique for future passive optical networks and among the detection techniques, coherent detection obviously has superiority in terms of performance. However, the cost of systems implemented by coherent detection is very high, so I think both techniques are the candidates for future PONs.

Hello Duy,
As alistu mentioned OFDM for future Passive optical networks is promising technology, undoubtedly it is. But you can improvise by going for TWDM for future PONs.In addition to it, you can compare OFDM and TWDM for the same.
Just refer to the link below just to get some sort of idea.https://techzine.alcatel-lucent.com/twdm-pon-taking-fiber-new-wavelengths
