please i want to make a design of an Active Optical Network (AON), to make a comparison between it and the passive optical network (PON), so is there any idea how to do that???

i have already read a lot of papers about PONs and AONs , but i found that all the papers are talked about simulation for PONs only , and no one mention any simulation about AON.
So is there any idea of how to do this?
