Hi,
When I use the program to calculate mode ,it just displays “Mode 1,Mode 2,Mode 3…”.How can I distinguish which one is the modal index of TE13 Mode in these modes? Is there a law for the display?
The attachment is the modes of a planar waveguide.
Modes on optical fibres have formal names. For example, TE(1,3) is the name of a vector mode on a fibre. There is no general convention for naming modes on general waveguides. The mode solver just labels them in the order they were found. They may be classified as TE or TM according to whether Ex is generally much larger than Ey (TE), or vice versa (TM).
