Is it possible in OptiFDTD to produce a phase shift by placing a metal heater on the ring cavity of the microring resonator?
It would depend on how you wish to implement the heater. You could calculate the thermal effects on the materials at the two temperature states and run two separate simulations to determine the phase shift, provided you did not require grated index which the product does not support.
You would not be able to add a metal heater and natively simulate applying current and the heating of the structure by the heater.
