when an MZI is designed in OPTI-BPM, switching voltage is mention 6.4 to 7.2 in tutorial. But according to MZI theory, Power will switch to port one when we varry applied dc voltage between 0 to half wave switching voltage. if we calculate half switching voltage for lithium niobate MZI by formula given in books, it will be 2.57 V. Can you explain me why 6.4 to 7.2 is mentioned in tutorial ? i mean to ask 6.4 to 7.2 V is by hit and trial method or any formula is behind this???
Hello Poonam,
The 6.4 to 7.2 was determined for this device through the parametric sweep of the voltage from 0 to 8 volts and observing the results. It is important to note that the switching voltage is highly dependent on device design and not simply material. If you could provide me with the reference that you used to calculate the 2.57V I may be able to assist.
