Hello all,
I’m simulating a 2D Nonlinear Photonic Crystal, and for that, the intensity value is necessary. However, the intensity value in my research is in W/m^2 while in OptiFDTD 32-bit it is only in W/m. I’ve looked up that unit, but I cannot find it anywhere. What is the conversion necessary between the two units?
Thank you
Hello Malik,
Power is the integral of the Poynting vector over the source or observer. In 2D your source is a line not an area so integrating Intensity (W/m^2) over your line (m) would result in your power over your line in fact being W/m. Simply use the power you want, this will set the peak power along your source to match what you want it to be.
