Optiwave software can be used in different industries and applications, including Fiber Optic Communication, Sensing, Pharma/Bio, Military & Satcom, Test & Measurement, Fundamental Research, Solar Panels, Components / Devices, etc..
OptiOmega is a collection of products specialized for photonic integrated circuit simulation. It automates the design flow for
generating compact models from device level simulations. The software package includes two solvers that can be used via
Python scripting: Vector Finite Difference (VFD) Mode Solver and Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Electromagnetic Solvers.

My first question is about the the FSO channel as the program deals with it as an amplifier at a certain range of (attenuation coefficient and beam divergence) which is really weird.
My second question is if I want make a pure water channel, what are the values of the parameters [Attenuation coefficient & beam divergence]?
Dear Ahmad,
The model of the FSO is valid for long distances beyond approximately 50m. You can check that by referring to the theory described in the datasheet of the FSO component, which you may access from the Help button in the component properties window.
Regards,
Ahmad
