I have only heard of dithering in Radar systems. So can you please provide some more information about this perhaps by addressing some papers? If you just want to add noise to your signal, you can do it by using the noise generating component available in OptiSystem for this purpose.

Hi Alitsu, dithering is also used on optical transmitters (digital or analog) to increase brillouin threshold. There are for example 10G SFPs for long reach which have internal dithering functions to be able to launch up to 17dBm into G652 fiber.
