I design a 16 channel 40Gbps system using EDFA and measured the q-factor after that I replaced EDFA with HOA(EDFA+raman) and measured q-factor. the q-factor in second case was less than the first case even though HOA provide better gain can anyone help me pls?
Hi Lavanya,
May I ask if you intended to make the design for the two amplifiers to get the same amplification and noise figure and got different results? Or do you mean to say the problem is that you haven’t been able to make the same design for both? Could you please upload you design if it is possible? Thank you.
Regards
As Alitsu, I think that it would be better to have some details in the design to understand why your Q-factor is worsened when using Raman+EDFA (nonlinear effects?).
Regards,
Alessandro
I tried to compare the performance of edfa and hoa(edfa+raman) in that I got high q-factor for edfa than hoa(edfa+raman)
below I have attached all files
