Dear All;
Dear Damian;
If used an Optical Amplifier EDFA to amplify signal that contains three modes and then when I Enapled Noise through “Include Noise”,I found it is just add noise to only one mode and the other modes wasn’t affected by noise.
Is this right?
If it is right how can make the noise added to all modes samples not only the the first mode?
Hope your urgent support.
Best Regards,
Abdallah -

Hi Abdallah,
You have encountered a bug we experienced with the last release of OptiSystem. It is now fixed and the release will be out hopefully mid January.
A work around is not to convert noise bins in the EDFA, but to convert it later with the component found in “Signal Processing Library/Tools/Optical library” named “Convert to Sampled Signals”.
Sorry for the inconvenience and let me know if it works out for you.

Can you clarify this point in more details.
Do you mean that my expectation about the noise that is adding to only one mode is right.
please give me more clarification.-

Sorry about that! I think I may have confused two related forum questions with each other. There are definitely some unexpected results with the multimode components co-simulating with amplifiers, mostly I think they can be fixed for now using the Convert to Sampled Signals and Signal Type Selector components. Although it should not be this complicated and the OptiSystem team is working to make these simulations run smoother.
That being said I tried with some amplifier components we have and got results I was expecting. Which exact fiber amplifier component are you working with (Er Doped Multimode Fiber)? Attaching your project file might be the best way for me to find the problem.
Thanks

Thanks Damian for your response.
I’m using “optical amplifier” Component in Optical Amplifiers Library.
My design is quite complex it contains 3 PM-QPSK Tx and Rx and Mode selectors and Matlab comonent for Few mode fiber. However I can send it for you in private message if it can help.
