Hi
I want to design and simulate 2stage EDFA by Optisystem, But I don’t know whats kind of EDF is appropriate for this job:Erbium Doped Fiber or Erbium Doped Fiber Dynamic?in Erbium Doped Fiber Dynamic’s help mentioned this fiber is suitable for cascaded EDFA,hence can be suitable for multi stage EDFA too? Thanks
Hi Roghayyeh,
My notion of the explanation provided in help section of EDF dynamic component was that this component is already modelling cascaded EDFAs. Therefore, I think you can do what you intend to do in two ways: You can either cascade EDFA components, or use one EDF dynamic component instead.

Thank you for your answer.
Hi Roghaye, the Dynamic component is useful only if you mean to research the transient characteristics of your system (for rxample how the power entering the receiver reacts to an add or drop of channels in the line).
If you want to analyze the steady-state of the system, you can simply use the Erbium Doped Fiber component.

Thanks Alessandro, Your guidance is very useful for me.

You are welcome Roghaye!
