Optiwave software can be used in different industries and applications, including Fiber Optic Communication, Sensing, Pharma/Bio, Military & Satcom, Test & Measurement, Fundamental Research, Solar Panels, Components / Devices, etc..
OptiOmega is a collection of products specialized for photonic integrated circuit simulation. It automates the design flow for
generating compact models from device level simulations. The software package includes two solvers that can be used via
Python scripting: Vector Finite Difference (VFD) Mode Solver and Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Electromagnetic Solvers.

How do I input parameters for attenuation coefficient of different types of water like clear ocean, coastal ocean, turbid harbor in optisystem.
Hello Buki,
There is an “Attenuation” parameter in the FSO component that you could use for attenuation underwater. Also, there is another parameter “Additional losses” that can be used for extra losses that could be encountered. You may use the “Intensity scintillation” to count for environmental conditions encountered underwater.
I recommend you to check an experimental paper and tune the parameters to match the simulation with experimental (A synthesis exercise).

Ahmad
