Hello,
I would like to simulate a diffraction grating of inverted pyramids on silicon using the FDTD free software. I am still getting the hang of how to operate the software but I am having trouble importing a 3D model. I constructed a 3D model using a CAD software and saved it as a .dxf. The website says that the latest version is capable of doing this but I could not find instructions on how to do it. If anyone could share the procedure or a tutorial on how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Andre Chavez
The free OptiFDTD product is an older version of the software that Optiwave has made available to the community. However, as an older and unsupported product it does not receive updates or new features that we introduce. The ability to import objects (IGES format) from CAD applications is one of these new capabilities.
To be able to import 3D objects you will need to obtain a license for the current OptiFDTD product. There is a 30-day evaluation on the website.
