If you only intend to use 3 of the MUX inputs, it would be fine and you may do such a thing. However, the input port that is not used in your system should be connected to the component “optical null” available in the “Tools Library” in OptiSystem libraries. Otherwise, the number of WDM Mux 4×1 component cannot be changed.
