In this attached file..i have seen when i use EDFA, it doesn’t give good result..but when i don’t use EDFA it give very good Q-factor .What is the reason behind this.Is EDFA compulsory for every system?Please help..
Hello Rajkumar,
You need to figure out if the EDFA improves the power level at the receiver and eventually the OSNR. Else, it might cause a problem due to ASE within the signal bandwidth. You might need to use optical bandpass filer to minimize the ASE in the signal. So, the OSNR is very important at the receiver.
By the way, you can’t upload OptiSystem project to the forum. Usually, you need to zip it.
