Optiwave software can be used in different industries and applications, including Fiber Optic Communication, Sensing, Pharma/Bio, Military & Satcom, Test & Measurement, Fundamental Research, Solar Panels, Components / Devices, etc..
OptiOmega is a collection of products specialized for photonic integrated circuit simulation. It automates the design flow for
generating compact models from device level simulations. The software package includes two solvers that can be used via
Python scripting: Vector Finite Difference (VFD) Mode Solver and Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Electromagnetic Solvers.

Sir I want to ask about the CW laser used in the lidar sensor system given in optisystem 15. What type of CW Laser is used here? is this VCSEL or DFB or anyother laser??
In which example do u mean?
Sir I am working on the lidar sensor which is already given as an example in optisystem 15.I am looking for a different laser source which can behave in the similar fashion like CW laser and can be used in this application. Since CW laser is an externally modulated laser is there any other externally modulated laser which i can use in lidar application?
Hi Manu,
there are different kinds of laser sources that can be used, for example
VCSEL, Directly Modulated Laser Measured, and Laser measured.
in each of them, you can control the output optical power by modulating electrical signal.
Hope that helps,
thanks
Mohamed
Thank you sir. But can you tell me what exactly is the CW laser given in the optisystem. Is it a FP laser or DFB laser or any other laser operating in the CW mode or it is entirely a different laser.
Manu,
each laser has a different model. CW laser outputs unmodulated CW laser based on the user input.
with modulated laser has output modulated by the input electrical signal.
I encourage you to have a look at the manual of each lase source!
hope that is clear.
thanks
Mohamed
