Home › Forums › GENERAL › how to determin the units and the power of the signal from a sine generator
hi everyone, here I have a problem.i am using a sine generator as a RF input.i want the units to be voltage V,and I want to determin the output power of the generator, how could I do that? thank you all!
Hi Zhang,
OptiSystem only uses arbitrary units (a.u.) and we generally assume a 1:1 relation with volts or current (resistance = 1 ohm). So the output of the sine generator can be viewed in volts. The Electrical Power Meter Visualizer can be used to measure the average power (it will give results in Watts or dBm) based on I^2*R or V^2/R. Since R=1, it simply takes the input sampled signal, squares each value and take the average. Cheers.
Thank you so much for your reply
