bidirectional fiber

      i face a problem while using a bidirectional fiber..it works fine in downstream but doesn’t show any signal when in upstream..does it need any modification of parameters when used in upstream?

      Hi Aabid,

      When you are working on bidirectional systems, make sure you use delay components wherever necessary. You can have a look at “BPON bidirectional” example in OptiSystem samples to see how the should be used if you think it may help. The .osd file can be found in “metro and access” folder.

      i was already incorporating delays in the upstream..it worked!
      however, now i am facing a problem at the circulator output..i should receive only one signal at the output with more power but i am receiving all the four signals with same power which is very low…please the attachment below! Thank you

      Hi,
      I think it doesn’t require Fiber brag grating you have already given delay, so it should work without grating e.g BPON in sample.
      It works properly.

        Hi ranjeet,
        In this design implemented here Fiber bragg grating is very much an important part here. The error was already removed. here i would like to mention that fiber bragg grating is used here for some application. It is very much different from PON network. It has its own significance here. I have used it more than just a filter here. I hope you got my point.

      Hi aabid

      If you wish to have a single output at the circulator port..u may have to use a filter in your design to further reduce the power of the undesired outputs from the circulator..Or else if the output of the circulator shows the power level of the signal you desire quite high compared to the other output signals then you can avoid the use of the filter.You can simply treat the low power signals as noise as long as they don’t affect your system performance to a huge extent.
