Hi sindhu,
If I am not mistaken, we have discussed similar question about Gaussian and band-pass filters in one of the previous forums. The main difference between these to filters is their filtering shape (which follows from their names). This shape (Gaussian and rectangular) is defined by the impulse response of each of these filters. The main condition of their application is matching their impulse response shape with the shape of received pulse.
