You have mentioned that the word “passive” PRIMARILY concerns the distribution of light. Is there any other basic meaning to that?
I have noticed the use of active elements (not distribution-wise!) such as EDFAs in PONs. So I assume what you have addressed as the primary interpretation of “passive” in PONs is the only interpretation of it. Am I right? Thanks again.
